Wine dinner to show our 2014 vintage to Authentic Wine Explorers in Singapore
Started with 3 climats on the Northern side, up on the slopes reaching towards Puligny and St Aubin...
2014 Vergers - High tension, reverberates, focused. Well chiselled and defined. I'ts best is yet to come. A super wine.
2014 Clos St Jean blanc - Stony, mineral, great focus and concentratio. Brooding and receddes at the moment. Material and balance all there - patience needed.
Next, 2 climats in the village, right next to the domaine...
2014 Champgains - Stony mineral, somewhat four-squares and weighty. Kind of like that quiedserious guy. Well built, time will tell.
2014 Caillerets - perfumed with pineapples specked with mineral and chalk. Oodles of ripe fruit on the palate countered by extreme minerality. Stretches both ways, amazing. Definately the articulate guy that everyone likes, including me !
Then the reds...
2014 Clos St Jean rouge - lifted floral and ripe cherries. Mineral edged, very balanced and elegant. Lovely now but better in +6 month.
2014 Maltroie rouge - overt fruitiness. Jumps out of the glass. Pure pretty Pinot. Good balance and rather open. Delicious.
Then the Puligny...
2014 Demoiselles - Clearly a different tune from the Chassagnes. Sweet lime and minerals adorned with white flowers. Intense and elegant on the palate, it playfully tickles. Beautiful finish. Top Noch !!!! (Demoiselle is right next to Montrachet on the Puligny side - very rare!)
